Gold Spray Works Wonders * Spray Dourado Faz Maravilhas

You know I’m officially obsessed with gold spray paint for sometime. It’s amazing how many ways you can transform ordinary items into high end masterpieces. I've done it a few times on the show and most of the times with Ikea furniture. The makeover possibilities are overwhelming!!

Quem está mais atento ao meu trabalho sabe o quanto sou oficialmente obcecada com pintar tudo o que é metal a spray dourado. É incrível como se podem transformar peças comuns, em objectos com uma grande pinta! Já o fiz algumas vezes no programa e na maioria das vezes, com peças do Ikea. As possibilidades são tantas que nem dá para acreditar!  

Para além das fotos do meu portfolio, encontrei mais alguns exemplos no Pinterest, para verem o que quero dizer. De repente uma peça banal tranforma-se completamente nua peça especial!

É é isto! Uma lata de spray dourado, umas luvas para não ficar com as unhas pintadas sem ir à manicure, e um cantinho no exterior, que pode ser num páteo ou uma varanda para não ficar intoxicado, e acabou de transformar a banalidade em originalidade!

My Ikea Transformations - As minhas transformações Ikea

One of my favorite things about decorating is that I just love to look at a piece of furniture and get creative on it!... And I do have a thing specially for Ikea ones. Gotta confess it started as a way of showing people (on the TV show) that you do not end up with 'all the houses looking the same when you shop at Ikea' as so many people used to tell me! Oh no you don't! Just take a look at some examples of what I did on some of my projects!

Uma das coisas que mais gosto neste mundo das decorações é olhar para uma peça de mobiliário e começar a ter ideias de como transformá-las!... Ou peças antigas ou até e especialmente peças do IKEA.  Devo confessar que tudo começou, quando no programa queria mostrar às pessoas que, lá por todos irmos ao iKEA não quer dizer que acabamos todos com as casas iguais, como tantas pessoas me diziam! Não senhor! Lembrei-me de compilar algumas das transformações que fiz em projectos meus para vos mostrar como podemos personalizar algumas peças com originalidade e aproveitar o facto de ser uma optima forma de 'contornar orçamento'.

About the Chalenge - acerca do Desafio - Furniture Painting

I am completely surrendered to all my dear blog followers! They filled my e.mail box with pictures of fantastic renovations of old painted furniture! Real pearls coming from the hands of talented amateurs of the art of recycling!

It made me think about taking the thing even more serious ... And I am working on some real great Ideas to surprise you. For now I want to reinforce the following;

 1. I will get pictures until 15 October and then make a selection of the best and put them to your vote.

2. I received some messages from followers sad because they can not participate. They do not have photos of before, so let's give them a hand and allow them to send images of the after and as an alternative send the picture of a similar piece of furniture from the internet.

3. I decided that the award will not only be a Homestyling box, but I am preparing a small 'basket of surprises' ok?

 Meanwhile and for your inspiration let me introduce The Real DIY artist!  Her name is Natty she is American, mother of 4 beautiful children those you see on children magazine covers, and she calls herself a 'paint enthusiast'! I've been following her blog for about one year and I am always flabbergasted, with her transformations. If I had a millionaire budget on the show I would fly her over too, to be a part of the Querido Mudei a Casa Team and she would kick some ass... Check her out!

Estou completamente rendida a todas as minhas queridas seguidoras do blogue!  Encheram a minha caixa do e.mail com fotos de fantásticas renovações de móveis antigos pintados! Verdadeiras pérolas vindas das mãos, de talentosas amadoras da arte de reciclar!! 

O que me fez pensar em levar a coisa mais a sério ainda... Tive umas ideias e assim que as conseguir concretizar partilho convosco. Para já quero reforçar o seguinte;

1. Vou receber fotos até dia 15 de Outubro para depois fazer uma selecção das melhores e colocá-las para a vossa votação.

2. Recebi algumas mensagens de seguidoras tristes, por não poderem participar por não terem fotos do antes, portanto vamos dar-lhes uma ajuda e podem enviar, como alternativa imagens de um móvel semelhante que tirarem da Internet, ou podem fotografar um móvel igual ou semelhante.

3. Decidi que o prémio não vai ser só uma consulta de Homestyling, mas estou a preparar um pequeno 'cabaz de surpresas' ok?

Entretanto deixo-vos as imagens do blogue da Natty uma verdadeira artista do 'Do It Yourself'!! Ela é uma jovem Americana residente em Arizona , mãe de 4 filhos lindos de capa de revista, e é uma  'entusiasta da pintura e do reciclar'! Sigo o blog dela há cerca de 1 ano e fico sempre de queixo caído com as transformações que ela faz. Se eu tivesse um orçamento milionário no Querido Mudei a Casa eu trazia-a para cá para fazer parte da equipa e 'dar baile' ao João Benedito!!.

Old furniture painting, YES or NO * Pintar móveis antigos, SIM ou Não?!

Here's another one of our old prejudices and common decoration in Portugal; PAINT old furniture! And when I say that I do not mean old classic and antique type furniture classified nineteenth century, I say old furniture from Grandma's house! In my Homestyling meetings I hear it every time. "Paint the furniture?! Ah, but it's such a good solid wood" ... But it will not fail to be good, I say. It will still be good and more beautiful... and the wood will not get damaged... it will just be different and lighter looking... Well my clients trust me and I'm lucky on that but it's not an easy task...  Now look at the pictures I have gathered, I confess that it took a while to find the right images for this post, and tell me what you think.

Aqui está mais um dos nossos velhos e comuns preconceitos na decoração em Portugal; PINTAR Móveis antigos!! E quando digo antigos não quero dizer antiguidades clássicas e classificadas tipo móveis séc XIX, digo mesmo móveis velhos da casa da avó!! Nas consultas de Homestyling que faço todas as semanas acabo sempre por ouvir; "Pintar o móvel?!? Ah, mas ele é tão bom?!... de madeira maciça e boa... "... Mas ele não vai deixar de ser bom... vai é passar a ficar mais bonito... e a madeira não vai ficar estragada... vai ficar é diferente e mais leve... A minha sorte é que as minhas clientes confiam em mim mas não é tarefa fácil...

Agora, vejam as imagens que reuni de fontes diferentes (confesso que isto demorou algum tempo), e digam-me o que acham disto.

neste caso foi usado um cinza claro mate que resulta lindamente!!

aposto que já viram uma destas cómodas em casa da avó ou de uma tia...

o contraste do móvel pintado resulta lindamente com o quadro antigo, não acham?

em espaços pequenos como este, pintar o móvel de branco foi a solução mais acertada!

O toupeira ficou lindo neste louceiro e o toque do papel no fundo um verdadeiro charme!! Já agora reparem na porta e na côr da parede.

outro estigma aqui representado - a mistura do móvel branco com os de madeira.

como podem ver estas cadeiras em madeira e a mesa branca não se zangam, pelo contrário até se dão bem!!

I think I'll throw a little DIY challenge here ...

1. Take these ideas and paint some piece of furniture in your home. 

2. Send me the before and after pictures to my email until the 15th of October.

 3. I'll post the pictures here and we will vote on the best transformation.

4.  The best one will win a Homestyling Box, online!
